Yeah that’s why you’re never supposed to do that. You have to talk to your doctor about proper weening

That’s a pretty common side effect of going off of antidepressants. I’ve gotten it even when lowering the dose slowly. Unfortunately there’s not much you can do about it other than ask your provider to help you go off of the med slower, which still might not prevent it. I hope you feel better soon though

you’re supposed to taper off antidepressants for this very reason. just like antidepressants take some time to really take effect, they also take time to leave your body. if you’ve been on it long enough to get used to it then you suddenly stop you’ll get uncomfortable brain zaps.

Why did you go cold-turkey? That’s generally NOT recommended by doctors. “Brain zaps” are a common side effect of coming off of an SSRI too quickly (and even sometimes when you are tapered off).

Because none of the ssri that I tried were working the psychiatrist switched my meds like 6 times and I didn’t like the way they all made the depression worse and casued Ed in addition to that so I just stopped

The brain zaps are going to be with you for a few weeks, maybe even a month. What meds have you tried? I went through a LOT that didn’t work or made shit worse before landing on the right combination.

Off the top of my head I can’t name them all but mirtazapine was the first which I didn’t feel full from eating and it gave me nightmares combined with 250 mg seroquel slow release for sleep and the last I tried was trintellix but that one made me vomit violently
