I’m in my first year of teaching and School AI is constantly pushed at me to create assignments and assessments by my admin, even though there are other perfectly good pdf options out there. I don’t know how much longer I can take this before I snap. Help

i’m in the same boat. my admin is pushing AI everywhere, and i’m seeing all my coworkers and educator peers fall for it too. Teachers advocating for students to use AI in their work. it’s ridiculous. And honestly it all comes back to money and funding - if teachers had more money, less students in the classroom, we would have more time to actually teach kids instead of parenting them or making them teach themselves. I love teaching, but it’s already hard enough with me working at the lowest performing elementary school in my district, 40% of my student’s parents speaking Spanish, being immigrants, having three different languages in my class (English, Spanish, Dari). Behavior issues are at an all time high. My values against AI are not only ignored, but are forced to be abandoned every single day. I’m not sure if it’s just my district or if it’s just how education is now. I feel broken.

This district made curriculum that works that they didn’t use AI for. They paid curriculum specialists to make it. Yet my school’s instruction and curriculum specialist LOVES AI. I’m so tired and it makes me nauseous. Like, I’m getting pushed to ruin the environment for what? AI created assessments? What kick back are you admin getting for making us use AI? I’m going to have to learn to not get nauseous cause I can’t keep letting this ruin my day. It’s negatively affecting my physical health.

I’ve been very vocally against AI in my workplace. I always talk about how much I hate AI. People stop talking to me about it once they realize I have no tolerance for it. It’s still sickening to see it everywhere at conferences.
