Idk what to say when I miss sarcasm. Ppl will joke, I respond seriously, and the laugh saying they were just kidding and I’m like…do I laugh too? I usually just say “Oh sorry, I’m not great at detecting sarcasm” but then it gets awkward

I kinda have the opposite problem, I usually notice the sarcasm, but if I respond as if it was serious as a joke, then they don’t realize I’m *also* being sarcastic ;-;

Ok warning you now that this is a dick move and will also sour the vibe in a different way but I’ll say something like “oh you were joking? Sorry I didn’t pick it up lol usually jokes are supposed to be funny”

to reduce the awkwardness u can just say smth like "oh whoops im slow" or smth in a less serious/more jokey tone that matches theirs & then keep the convo moving bc if u stop & focus on it & apologize ur continuing the seriousness & usually ppl wont know how to respond so theyll just say smth like "its okay" & the convo dies right there

Because I normally use it when someone’s “sarcastic” comment was already not very nice and they try to laugh it off when I don’t pick it up
