Considering going on birth control for my PMDD, is there anything I should know going into it that you guys have experienced?

Agree with everything #1 said. I take progesterone only and skip the placebo pills (can’t take estrogen because I get migraines with aura) for PMDD and it totally stopped my periods and therefore the PMDD. I don’t have side effects besides mild breakthrough bleeding maybe once a year and I’ve been on it for 4 years. Birth control has risks, but so does PMDD. You should talk through the risks and benefits of birth control and specific forms of it with your doctor.

bc messes with your hormones so it might take a couple months to get to a balanced point with a stable cycle but if it helps definitely do it. progesterone has less bad side effects than estrogen as well so if you can get that and if it works, that might be better. discuss IN LENGTH all of your concerns with your doctor as well
