Yesss, seriously! Sometimes I’ll ask someone something like “where are you from?” and then they don’t even ask it back :’) and that might come off as me asking a question *just* so I can get asked it back, but it’s not that way. I genuinely want to know about where people are from; I just wish they also wanted to know where I’m from, yk?
I’ve never been able to get close enough (friends) to them to be able to say this, honestly. I definitely get that almost all of the time, the person doesn’t realize that I know everything about them meanwhile they don’t remember my name, but I simply just don’t feel comfortable saying something like this to someone I met half an hour ago, or very recently, if that makes sense. If it was someone I’d known for awhile, I’d maybe consider saying something like-
-“Do you mind if I tell you about (topic)?” But then again if it’s clear that me talking about something or myself is a burden to them and/or interrupting what they’d clearly rather be talking about, I just would rather not talk about it at all. I don’t think anyone’s really the bad guy in this situation usually, just that me and the other person have different communication styles - I’m very “Let’s ask each other questions back and forth”, which I know is definitely not for everyone
