professors rarely do that kind of thing, but you never know. you should ask in person. it’s harder to say no to someone when your talking to them face to face. also it’s easier to negotiate if you can’t get exactly what you want.

i’m ngl bud i don’t think points could be given back on late assignments if you didn’t reach out about your situation at the time. especially if you didn’t ask for extensions or have accommodations allowing extra time on assignments
