Does it make you uncomfortable when people stand too close behind you? It certainly makes me uncomfortable.

Had an instance where I was hanging out with my friends last night and a guy in the res hall decided to stand a foot and a half behind me which is too close for me. I asked him politely as possible to not hover but instead of apologizing he just made passive aggressive comments. But at least I set a boundary

Yes I have started saying “not friendly” which I also use when other dogs try to approach mine. Instinctively people back up

Just start stepping backwards pretending like you don’t know someone’s behind you LMAO

Yeah it does like sometimes when I’m walking I try to walk faster even if my legs hurt bc I feel uncomfortable when people walk behind me, I much prefer people to walk around me and feel awkward about it them bitching about that I’m walking to slow

i have a weird trauma response to ppl standing behind me and looking at me. like it isn’t dramatic, it’s just a disproportionate reaction i have to a pretty innocuous thing

The only people that can stand close to me are the ones I’m super close with, otherwise it gets really uncomfortable for me

Okay so it's weird, I hate being touched or having people too close, but I also love going to rock concerts and participating in mosh pits and shit like??? What the fuck???

Yes, at work and school especially, waiting in lines at the store, I’m just so aware of their presence that it makes me very aware of my presence. It also pisses me off when people grab my shoulder from behind, it shocks my nerves

Y’all are too nice, I just started barking at ppl. I’ve made friends with this approach, I’ve made enemies. Mostly tho, I’ve made space.

Yeah I think it’s a down syndrome thing. Just something about someone breathing on your neck triggers some defense mechanism that is only present in people with down syndrome. But that’s just my experience

Also when people start getting too close to me I sometimes say “I don’t like that.” Same goes for when people try to hug me.

Omg I almost screamed at my bf cause of this. Every step I took in a store he followed and I was already upset it just makes me want to explode but then there are times I can be touchy with ppl but it has to be on my terms and people get so mad

You can tho. You just gotta be okay with being “the guy that barked at their boss that one time” at the office
