I literally dont have an imagination and it makes me so sad. I have nothing up here. Not even black or darkness. Just straight nothin. Gun to my head and I still couldn’t picture a damn apple in front of me. I have yet to find a benefit to this affliction

I have aphantasia too but I’ve found that it makes certain tasks easier, especially when it comes to compartmentalization if you work in a traumatic field like emergency response, medicine, etc.

i’m on the opposite side of the spectrum of that… overactive imagination to the point that i will have mini vivid waking nightmares that are like intrusive thoughts. it’s like i’m living a few minutes of an absolute war zone or my dog being killed or something awful for what is maybe seconds or milliseconds in reality. it’s like imagination horror spam emails or browser pop-up ads except they’re just LiveLeak videos! maybe my over sharing can help you find just one benefit 🥲😅

I have aphantasia too but I still have a a vivid imagination. So it’s more like the voice inside my head will go on long monologues like it’s reading from a play. So I’m lowkey glad I don’t have the visuals cause it’s still distressing

Same here with an overactive imagine who also suffers with intrusive thoughts! When my mind is nice to me it’s amazing, but damn sometimes it’ll make me vividly ‘see’ the most grotesque shit

it’s great when i need to remember something then i can essentially like plug into that exact moment in time and m, like a movie, look around the space of the memory and recall minor details… but then that also applies to the worst memories too 😂🥲

that is true… i’m well known for my detachment from emotions & my general apathy. that’s an interesting connection, i wonder if it’s been explored scientifically

that’s interesting! i have a lot of intrusive thoughts and they usually make me feel physical sensations on my body, like a cut or burn or something of the sort. i do have dreams though and, from what i can tell as a conscious person now, i see things in those dreams. i wonder if that means i can access my imagination somehow lol
