I walk a line between wanting a neurodivergent boyfriend and wanting a neurotypical boyfriend

What does the distinction entail for you?

Naw I don’t typically vibe with NT. Infodumping is adorable. I’m weird I need someone else also weird. Now I will say I’m an ambivert with an exobitionist streak so I do need someone confident and secure enough to know I want to shake my ass sometimes but still go home with *only* them. My best friend will go out to a club with me and sit in the corner with her notebook guarding my drink because that’s the vibe she likes & I wouldn’t mind someone that fits that but also would like someone…

Who wants to be on the dance floor with me enjoying my ass shaking. 🤷‍♀️ other than maybe a once a month club/greek restaurant with a dance floor trip I’m down to mostly chill at home at night either cuddling watching a movie, reading while they play video games, or playing some games together. Perfect life.

I mean idk I think it would depend on how functional both of us are. and how patient a neurotypical could be with me and my oddities

Yeah… if you want the infodumping dork that will occasionally indulge your need for music it’s unlikely you’ll find that in someone NT.

Well I mean info dumping is a ND thing. NT don’t do that because to them it’s “rude” to espouse an interest that those around might not find interesting & sometimes they take it as an insult that they might not know as much about [insert subject] as you do, rather than a genuine bonding attempt. As for going out clubbing, the people who like to club are probably going to overwhelm you a bit if you’re an ambivert and don’t like it as an everyday thing.

It’s a thing talked about in ND circles that ND people find each other and if you know someone who has all or almost all ND friends then they are probably ND themselves, whether or not they have or ever plan to pursue a diagnosis.

No worries! I have so many diagnoses with being multi-LD and having an ADHD diagnosis that it seems pointless to go back and add autism as well even though I check basically every box on a diagnostic, and its only getting more noticeable as I get older, become more *me* and stop masking.

Though TBF my teachers thought I was autistic from 1st grade on, it just didn’t show up diagnostically ig. Which is very common for girls when it comes to autism and ADHD. AFAB peeps present differently because of socialization differences. Even today, autism diagnosis is NOT based on how hard it makes an individual’s life, but on how many resources that individual will consume to live in daily life (at least in America and other countries that use the DSM-5 for diagnostic criteria)
