Acknowledging it out loud is usually enough to take that power for yourself and shut down all but the most malignant. I tend to make a joke, but that’s not even necessary.

it's a community college so i'm definitely less scared of doing it here than at the state university i was at before cuz whoooo cares but like 😔

if it's a community college its probably fine then! I went to one briefly and everyone was pretty antisocial which ngl I really enjoyed so I highly doubt anyone would say anything at all even to each other
