Honestly I’m still working on it. I’ve been having a lot of severe depressive episodes in the past year. I try to remind myself that the lows don’t last just like the highs won’t last. I’m currently waiting on a neuropsych eval to find a more accurate diagnosis so I can get the right meds.
I mean that’s just life. You’ll experience many ups and downs in life. We strive to reach some kind of consistent baseline, but you first have to accept that life won’t always be great. I get it tho. Those of us with autism struggle with change and uncertainty. It’s especially hard as a person with Autism and ADHD, as one side of me wants planning and consistency, and the other side of me wants it
I like to think of the waterfall scene from emperors new groove. The “bring it on mentality” helps a lot. Its accepting the circumstances while not letting it defeat you. Sure you will be on the ground, on your knees, begging for some damn light at the end of the tunnel but you keep going. Think of yourself as a train. Those things are practically immovable. Lows suck but its sort of accepting the suck being ok to ask for help like youre doing here and being able to admit that youre struggling..
Cry when you need to just let shit out, scream it all out, let yourself feel how low you are because thats the reality of it. Its ok to struggle and its ok to be in a low whatever that low may be. Life is hard and its ok to experience it being hard. Its ok to ask for help and its ok to feel like you are losing. Youre not alone here
