Question, would these traits (highlighted) truly be indicative of ASD?? I do haved dx-ed adhd… curious if it’s actually AuDHD. (Not trying to self dx..tho every time I’ve dxed myself I’ve been right.) or is it more likely just the adhd traits??

one of the main reasons self-diagnosis is so unreliable and only a professional can diagnose these disorders is that a lot of the symptoms of different ones overlap. best to ask whomever diagnosed you with the adhd.

Theoretically most of these can overlap with ADHD, but I think a shutdown could be indicative of autism. If you are having trouble with those symptoms then I would absolutely suggest looking into resources intended for autistic people to help deal with that. If you were not diagnosed with ADHD and you expressed that you had these symptoms, I would assume you are autistic. fwiw I am professionally diagnosed autistic and have been diagnosed for most of my life (since 17mo).

These are all things that could be a part of the sensory issues criteria of autism. The DSM 5 also has criteria about abnormal communication and behaviors (from what I remember) look up autism dsm 5 diagnostic criteria to see if the other criteria seem like they may fit you

You are correct! Criteria A is about “social communication and interaction deficits.” Sensory issues is ONE of the four options under criteria B, and someone must have two in order to be diagnosed with ASD. I agree OP should look up the criteria.

I want to push back on this slightly. Not to totally reverse what you’re saying, but a nudge. Only you have access to your internal experience, which is where these overlapping conditions manifest. Self assessment is in the toolkit for autism, and it needs to be. How you describe your experience is going to dramatically change the resulting perception and diagnosis. For me, the specific phrasing of a question drastically changes the answer I give in a way allistics do not “grok.”
