1) Empathy is foremost more about helping someone more than preserving their feelings 2) Telling someone that their situation can be better improved with work than medicine, when true, is the empathetic choice even if you dont want to hear it 3) It is not empathetic to recommend care regimens that treat people as helpless or weak and keep them stuck in their cycle 4) Nobody said that, idiot
I doubt anyone here is saying that therapy doesn’t work. But short term relief isn’t bad. Short term relief helps you manage things enough for a period of time so you’re capable of organizing long term solutions. Also like tbh I don’t know if that’s even correct like anxiety meds don’t have a time limit generally speaking.
It is correct: many studies have shown that long term blended results with medication + therapy either have no statistical long term effect difference from therapeutic intervention alone, or worse results, because the patient becomes dependent on medication instead of -doing the work-
dude if you politely brought up therapy this would be completely fine, but no, you had to suggest everyone who takes meds is a helpless failure. why did this need to be so argumentative? Just chill out. Meds help some people and other courses of action are best for others. Don’t pretend like your personal experience is universal.
