People saying they want their partners “a LITTLE autistic” doesn’t sit right with me bleh they’re shaming people with higher support needs and they think having autism is just being quirky like babes it means having a whole different brain structure 😭

it’s just minimizing people with autism at any support need level, and as if they’re assigning autism only to certain personality traits… this meme can apply to anybody but i think of it often when people say that lol.

It always “I want a gf with autism” until I have a mental breakdown and subsequent panic attack because my clothes feel wrong

My ex did this to me. Not only was it minimizing to people who were actually autistic to use it on me (adhd), but he also used it to undermine anything I said and my intelligence. All around bad

I think Neurotypical people think a little autistic is people being into some niche hobby or thing, or even being a little weird but the cute way. When in reality it’s immensely larger and complex than that.

They associate having autism with having unique style, passionate interests, a little cute social awkwardness/flirting/humor and like yeah that can be true for many people but… like you said it is so much more than that

Yeah it’s so weird. Plus it was used in front of others and basically made anything I said not valid. That also shows other people’s attitudes about autism because why didn’t they take me seriously? If someone told me someone else was autistic I’d just be like “oh ok, cool” because it doesn’t really add much to the conversation unless we’re talking about specific experiences and putting them into context

Fr and those are great qualities that many autistic people have but like 👀 to reduce autism to that is not okay

Let’s me honest here, they’re infantilizing us and they think that’s hot because society wants women to be naive and small and innocent and basically children
