Like when someone makes a comment but says “oh they’re autistic” I’m usually like “being autistic does not mean they’re stupid”

Because stigma surrounding all people on the autism/aspergers spectrum are super strong and popular media primarily reinforces the idea that either an autistic person is a veritable genius or is a simple-minded child who “doesn’t get it”
