I think very hard about whether what I’m about to say is necessary and whether it will improve the conversation.

Constantly struggle to enforce 80% / 20% listening/speaking. If I’m doing more talking than listening, than that’s a huge red flag.

I just bite my tongue until it feels like there’s a pause in the convo for me to speak

im not neurotypical. I just think if you have an issue constantly interrupting people and dominating conversations.. you can’t just blame that on being neurodivergent.

But you understand that autism comes with social difficulties, right? The “moral” part comes in regarding acknowledging that it can negatively affect others and choosing to work on it. Why is it hard to believe that people might struggle with proper communication?

I mean if you’re asking how to limit how much you interrupt, you obviously know that it’s wrong. the only way to limit it is to not do it, like there’s no method to that. i don’t even get the point of this post.

Personally, I interrupt because I don’t always know when the natural break in a conversation is. Or maybe I talk for too long because I’m zoning out and unaware of how long I’m talking. None of it is “I want to dominate this person in conversation”. I’m a little disappointed in your lack of understanding others, but I acknowledge that in a ND space there are bound to be many different people with different strengths and weaknesses, so I’m not upset at you.
