i always thought the pledge of allegiance was sus as a kid. i would mouth it but never really say it and keep my hand hovering my chest instead of touching it. at one point i thought it was how they tricked you into being draftable. yall experience this?

That was during the Cold War. This was a statement against communism and communist states (which were officially atheist).
