It’s just a different kind of hard, like as a black and queer woman I can do a hell of a lot more and not get like gunned down than in the 80s, but we also don’t have a shitty surveillance state and prices being awful, but girl the 80s were far worse for a lotta people (today is bad too)

Sorry, I’m Jewish. I’m a little confused, should I be concerned about anti-Semitic legislature from this Nazi government?

I don’t have the patience either. Minimizing what my people went through by equivocating it to policies in American politics that you don’t like is really disturbing.

you can be worried abt antisemitism in america at the same time as being worried abt homophobia and xenophobia and racism just like how the nazis were killing jewish people at the same time as gays and people of color, idk what you’re even arguing rn

I’m saying Trump ≠ Nazi. I get disagreeing with his policies, but you’re making light of Nazis. That’s what I’m saying. You’re being lowkey anti-Semitic rn.

I’m not majorly worried about anti-Semitism in America bc we don’t have a Nazi government. That’s my whole point.

Elon literally did a Nazi salute at the inauguration and at that time he was an actual member of the government that was taking power. Christ.

Don’t you think I’d have more of a right to determine if his intentions were anti-Semitic or offensive? That solute is more Fascist than Nazi-esque. I think it was problematic, but I don’t think it’s specifically Nazi related.

Actually no— we all have an equal right to form opinions about other people’s intentions and discuss those opinions as we see fit. You don’t have to agree with OP, but ā€œI’m Jewishā€ is simply not a relevant to whether or not Elon Musk did a Nazi salute, and you do not have to be jewish in order to form an opinion about Nazis. if it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, even if it isn’t the 1940s, it’s a duck.

You should still be worried about antisemitism in America, very much so…It’s just not coming from the same side it was in the 1940s

Yea fair tbh. I was just talking to her more about affordability. Esp cause I’m closeted to her so I can’t exactly talk about the positive differences in trans rights nowadays compared to back then. Cause in those regards at least it definitely is better now

Ohhhh shit I hope you can come out to other ppl in a safe way- but yeah I wouldn’t say it’s objectively better bc of the dl racism and classism and homo/transphobia running rampant but goodness it’s ups and downs

Thank you! I appreciate it. Thankfully I’m out at my college already so at least 90% of the time I live as myself nowadays which is lovely🄰 and yea we have a lot more support nowadays but also a lot more attacks against us so it’s not fully one way or the other. I think on average it’s better though.
