if you use gen-AI and then know the risks to the psyche, environment, and others. you suck using it in general is making you stupider. actually use your brain. i have horrible adhd (that medicine hardly fixes) and i don’t use ai. it’s selfish.

I used to use ChatGPT for therapy, writing, making D&D characters, silly pictures, handling relationship issues, etc. until I found out how much it damaged our environment and that it was CONSTANTLY FEEDING MISINFORMATION. Also with consistent use, it will destroy your creativity, and you can’t get it fully back. I stopped using it I think over a year ago? It was hard at first not using it but now it’s easy I just use my brain. I have BPD, PTSD, AuDHD, etc

It is a horrible technology built on the backs of theft and being used for horrible atrocities (surveillance, ICE kidnappings, apparently now CSAM is legal to make with AI?????) its just overall absolute dogshit. i used to use it to for help with computer shit but i stopped once i learned how awful it was. and now i loathe it so much😭

i think it’s also very important for people to know the difference between generative ai (gen ai) and other ai. Other ai is like a set list of commands and functions that has been programmed to run. It doesn’t take up much water reserves. but as for generative ai? it is an ai that actively learns from itself and the people who talk to it, it takes form multiple resources and gets answers. It’s basically self taught and takes up so much water reserves. I’m not against ai, just generative ai.

I don’t disagree that it’s harmful to the environment and I understand not using it for everything, including school. But if you’re not using it as a tool at all, there are few career spaces I can think of that you won’t be behind in. Regardless of it being good or not, it’s happening.

I had a dietitian teach me how in middle and high school in a small ass town because I played sports and if a middle schooler can figure it out without ai you probably can too. Im a college student, i dont have time to intricately learn about calorie counting when im already learning how to take care of my body in other ways in deep. You act like this makes me dumb but its JUST calorie counting and ai making people dumb is literally for schoolwork NOT personal use like this

Im researching alongside simply calorie counting. But if you expect me to research every meal? Thats unrealistic. I dont have to use ai, but it helps in ways I cant on my own without extended effort that goes towards better things. Instead of a dietician i can focus on work in that time, workout or do my school work instead of utilizing a tool like ai. Ai is a tool good and bad, to do homework? Bad. To cut time off calorie counting while researching food benefits on my own time? Thats well ok

They do everything you listed. That’s like their entire purpose. They teach you about calories and nutrition then use that to help you know how to create food plans that get you past 2000 calories or whatever your goal is. That’s kind of their whole job. It doesn’t take long to learn if you have an ounce of common sense and problem solving skills. An ai doesn’t eat so it will never understand the complexities of food the way a human does. The difference between Ai and animal agriculture is WE NEED TO FUCKING EAT. Millions of people cannot be vegan. It is a privilege. Animal agriculture does not just feed humans, yk all those cute fuzzy wuzzy animals in zoos/aquariums/refuges? Yup they need it too. No one needs ai. Everyone needs animal agriculture.

I’ve worked at zoos, with wildlife, in the pet industry and their consumption pales in comparison to ours. A “privilege” is laughable considering the cost of animal agriculture and cost of meat vs protein alternatives. You’re talking out of your ass with no research to back you up, where are you getting this information? You don’t “need” animal agriculture you want it bc you can’t handle the discomfort of being told your habits are harmful.

I’m not discussing the cost privilege. Some people will die if they do not eat enough protein. Some people do not have access to vegan options. It is a privilege to assume that everyone around the world can be a vegan. I’ve also worked in zoo and aquariums. Humans and animals need animal agriculture or they will die. We do not have enough plant-based food in the world to feed everyone nor do we have the ability to give it to everyone. Even so vegan food requires animal shit to grow it.

There is a massive problem in the animal agriculture industry. I’m not saying that there isn’t. But for you to have the fucking audacity to say AI is better than animal agriculture is fucking laughable. No one needs AI ever. Millions of people rely on the animal, agricultural industry and if we stop it like you want millions will die. That doesn’t seem that vegan to me. The death of millions of both animals and humans.

So again where are you getting that? Plant based proteins like beans and lentils are the most wildly accessible sources of protein. Food is produced on an on demand basis literally basic economics. Btw most farmers use either 100% synthetic fertilizers or a mix anyways bc of the logistics in transporting manure.

That’s a completely unsubstantiated claim? 18% of the worlds consumed calories comes from the meat/dairy industry if we used the crop production we use for animal feed for ppl it would give 70% more calories. The benefits outweigh the cost is prob the dumbest thing you said this entire time. The difference is someone changing their diet creates more of an impact than not using ai. Wanna talk about what will “kill” us look into the top drivers of climate change. Want to actually lower your carbon footprint and mitigate your damage go 80% plant based. And if not at least not using ai makes you feel like you’re doing something special ig

You know you don’t have to be vegan to lower your consumption within the meat industry right? I medically need to eat red meat even though I’m not a big fan so I get my meat from a local man my grandparents have known for decades that raises and processes all his own beef. Veganism isn’t holy either and supports vast monoculture that destroys the land and local environments. You’d be better off feigning superiority by asking if people go to their local farmers markets and butchers

alright so 1. I mentioned veganism bc that’s the easiest and offers the HIGHEST reduction in lowering personal carbon footprint 2. Its so silly to think vegan crop production is so bad for the environment we might as well keep animal agriculture

If you believed your 4th point you wouldn’t be arguing for veganism. You’d be arguing for sustainable agriculture development. Thinking we could just replace animal agriculture with crop production and solve our problems is such wishful thinking. That would cause even more widespread environmental damage and completely wipe out local animal and insect populations because they become pests to kill. And do you know how hard it is to reintroduce nutrients into monoculture soil and reverse erosion?

current day ai and current day generative ai still are wider areas than llms and image generators that scrape existing art. you don’t need a degree to understand the basic terminology of something you’re passionate enough to insult strangers about. there are ai tools being used in technology and medicine that are saving lives and can be run natively on in-house hardware. if you don’t use the correct terminology to describe your opinion, professionals and lawmakers are not going to listen.
