If it’s any consolation. When it comes to engineering it is SUPER RARE for an engineer to hate their job as in hating doing the engineering part. The profession is so gatekept it’s impossible to get that far without a love for it that drives determination

Most people hate their jobs. For a chunk of people, they use hating their jobs as an excuse to do their jobs poorly. What if those people were the ones who made the building you’re in. Or the elevator you take. We put too much trust in random people

the real danger in engineering is the greedy companies and governments who ignore obvious dangers. I could list examples because disasters are a special interest of mine but I don't think it would be helpful

honestly idk if this is true in my experience as a computer engineering major but also i’m sure it varies by discipline a lot

yeah like my boyfriend used to be an engineer but changed careers as his job became totally automated and taken over by machines but he still loves engineering, he watches physic videos and all this other shit that makes my head for fun like you have to love that kind of stuff to make a career out of it, it's not really something you just fall into you have to work hard to get there

Yes… one of my special interests is theme park ride related deaths. Because for some reason since I was young I’d always look at roller coasters and be like. “How’d they make this safe”. Autism go burrrr. Also apparently people REALLY don’t like it when you’re standing in line for a ride at Disney and you tell them about that one time a person got decapitated on the Matterhorn because he stood up when he wasn’t supposed to and took a support beam to the throat. Who would have thunk.

Also PSA. NEVER EVER EVER GO ON POP UP CARNIVAL RIDES! Or those like fair rides. Most of the were made before serious standards were put in place- and their construction is designed for rapid assembly and disassembly- which is not conducive to ya know SAFETY
