i’m sorry man. i’m kinda in the same boat, my parents are “older” (Gen X) and they say “when we were kids Autism wasn’t a thing” well… they’re autistic too 😭

mine believe it's a thing... for men... my mom is a special ed teacher and is a huge activist for disability rights but when it comes to girls with autism she thinks we're either just rude and bitchy or trying to be quirky.

When they were kids, they were beat for being “weird” and “different” because society didn’t have the knowledge about ASD that we have now.
