Diagnoses can give access to therapeutic and treatment programs, insurance coverage for treatments, legal protections, ans accommodation access (both for school and workplaces). Not to mention access to financial support like state vocational training, disability benefits, and specific government grants/specific spending.
imo a diagnosis doesn’t really do anything besides give you accommodations in school (so for like 4 years?) and having the assurance or peace of mind. if those things are valuable to you, go for it. if you could live without knowing for sure, then i wouldn’t. i got my diagnosis and the accommodations helped but there’s only so much they can do for you 🤷
