if some people with antisocial personality disorder wanna reclaim the label of psychopathy for themselves then that’s none of my business, but in literally any other context I’m extremely wary of that term

i dont think empathy discourse for psychopathy is really high priority considering they cant feel or understand it anyways

not experiencing reflexive empathy on the same level as the average neurotypical person isn’t the same as being unable to feel compassion you’re using your own misunderstanding of a mental illness as justification for not caring about stigma against those affected… when that same stigma is the reason for your misconception in the first place. great demonstration of what’s so harmful about with the language of psychopathy

tbc, I mostly intended my comment as a criticism towards pop culture / mainstream media (like the show you mentioned) for keeping the construct of “psychopathy” in circulation, rather than at you in particular for repeating the term—especially cause I feel like your post was questioning that construct either way but I legit appreciate your receptiveness to the label itself being challenged more broadly 🫡
