I understand if people disagree with me on this but I feel like the ND umbrella is so broad that it encompasses most people at this point. If we include almost every condition in the DSM in the umbrella then almost everyone is some kind of neurodivergent

yes but the real differentiator is who is in denial or ashamed, and who accepts themselves and is willing to seek community away from stressing about conformity? the more people in the second group the better imo

I don’t think anyone is actually “neurotypical” tbh

Interesting… I think I understand. Are you saying that it doesn’t necessarily matter if the majority of people are actually ND, what matters is that we accept brain differences”? That’s how I interpreted your response so correct me if I’m wrong!

kind of! i think we’re all conditioned to mask, and compete in masking. we’re taught to mirror obsessively and everyone ends up mirroring ideas of what we should admire in someone. The more people accept they might be ND (which we all are in a system with unattainable goals), the more they accept individuality and thus themselves. more people heal from societal pressures, and then “real” NDs can have more genuine spaces for ourselves i suppose

I simply see the big ND umbrella as people not knowing where to find community when they want to leave the toxic social systems that exist. So i welcome them as long as they feel they’re not “normal”, and im happy to give them a place to feel comfy cozy. so to me I see the ND social bubble more as a healthy refuge for people who don’t know how to or don’t want to participate in our current social systems
