i have watched avatar the last airbender so many times, it has eps with the emotional range to make me cry but is overall super wholesome! it also tackles so many serious topics like nationalism/colonialism, genocide, abuse, and war while somehow still being kid-friendly. i like that the characters all have flaws but you (mostly) love them anyway, plus cool super powers! and found family! 🥰
I made a whole Google Doc on Yellowjackets. It has episode descriptions, it's got a character index, it has an index of symbolism that's used, it has the songs in every episode, it has fun facts about the cast (ex: both Misty actresses were pregnant while filming) & interviews, and it has an index of references it's made to external media
please please please watch rise of the tmnt it’s SUCH a good and gorgeous show there’s a lot of discourse abt how it differs from other tmnts but i personally really like the twists they take, first season is on netflix but there’s also a google drive link you can find to get the whole thing free :3
NARUTO. naruto is everything to me. the show and manga is lowkey ass but it’s one of those medias where it’s so good that you ignore how bad it is. if that makes sense. anyway there’s so many characters to love and the story is really fucking compelling and a lot of the characters are relatable and tell stories of love and grief and war and just. yay
severance is like a dystopian world where this ultra powerful corporation has invented a technology that splits your brain/memories into your work self and your home self and it really captivated me the whole time because there’s just this overarching sense of mystery and things going on that you slowly learn as it goes on. it’s genuinely so well made
young royals on the other hand is a teen romance that i like because of the nuance in the characters and situations. also it makes me really jealous of the main characters because nobody else really seems to understand or care about them but they have each other and i wish i had a relationship like that
it’s humanized versions of japanese racehorses which i didn’t think i would like but i think they do a really good job of making them very realistic and likable and there’s actually some good disability rep even!!! and a lot of em are autistic you’ll have to pry that out of my cold dead hands
I somehow managed to never read the book, but the interviews say that there are a few moments that are directly inspired by LotF but mostly it's "what if this happened to a bunch of teenage girls with varying levels of privilege/oppression" with major differences like how long it takes for shit to hit the fan and why shit hits the fan, and what happens after.
and so many characters are HOTTTT. my blorbo is really hot. this is just fanart but he literally loves his brother so much that he destroyed his own life to save him. and there are many such cases in the series. all of the villains aren’t just Evil for naruto to fight, they’re actually pretty complex and compelling characters. especially in the tail end of the show
