can i game rec? outer wilds is very good, complex, puzzle-story game and has a lot of hidden details for the player to explore. like a crazy amount. it’s about space exploration where you play as an alien species trying to solve a mystery and study a past alien race and there is a LOT to uncover like you can be making timelines, taking notes, tracking messages, studying ruins, figuring out alien technology. it can be very involved if you want it to be. but it doesn’t need to be

do they enjoy modded minecraft? they could give that a shot, even on shitty laptops there’s great playable modpacks. they’re easy to install on CurseForge too

if they like reading, they could get into the hobby of writing! or literary analysis! when i graduated college, i found that i really missed literary analysis and writing essays, so i started writing them on my own time. it eventually led to me writing a book i never plan on publishing lol

like you don’t need to be digging and doing research, it’s not required, you can get through the story with just exploration and puzzle solving. but if you’re the type of person that likes to deep dive, it offers a lot of opportunities for you to do that
