I can’t stand being around devout Christians, I try and be open minded but I find them unbearable. I don’t act differently but inside I am screaming. I’m typically an incredibly tolerant person and I don’t have this problem with other religions.

Honestly I get it. I know that christianity is a big group so it’s illogical to assume they’re all bad, but I’ve never met a kind/good Christian in my 20+ years of being alive (then again, I’m aware I’m biased. I don’t know many good people period) Either way, they’ve put such a bad taste in my mouth and I’m trying to be more tolerant

“Stop shoving it down our throats and keep it in the bedroom!” they shout, being the biggest nuisances whenever they can be.

So I’m an Orthodox Christian, and I actually have an understanding of how you feel. Certain denominations of Christianity have a tendency to feel the need to browbeat people with their beliefs, and it’s honestly quite upsetting. Now, no Christian is perfect, of course – we’re all human. Nonetheless, it’s disheartening and disappointing when certain Christians use their beliefs to condemn others or to attempt to browbeat them into conversion

I get this. I grew up Christian but now I’m agnostic/atheist. A lot of it comes down to simply me not believing, as well as disliking the communities I was in. I just couldn’t find anything to relate to in them. I live in my small hometown, and i always get the Christians who act like they’re above me and tell me I “need” to go back to church. I have some Christian friends, so it’s not all Christians, but I live in the South so there’s always those that think they’re above you and judge you.

Real, it’s worse bc I’m on a college campus and my RA is one of them, there’s “god this” and “god that” on all the walls and it just pisses me off

Ultimately, it only hurts people and turns them away from Christianity all the more. As Christians, we’re called to approach others with humility, love, respect, and compassion, even when we disagree. That doesn’t mean we’ll always condone sinful or wrongful behaviors, but ultimately the Church is a hospital, meant for to help facilitate the healing of soul and body, not to condemn. Ultimately, God alone can try the hearts of men

We are simply meant to aspire towards communion with Him, and to treat others with the love God shows us. Anyways, I’m done ranting, but hope this helps!

Very, very few people in this world don’t know about your beliefs and don’t care. It’s non-stop. Just keep it to yourselves already.

I’m confused – is you’re comment meant to criticize mine? Cause I’m more or less agreeing with you. I’m saying I don’t think it’s right for Christians to shove their views down people’s throats. If someone asks for information about their beliefs, that’s different. But I don’t think it’s right to just force one’s views upon someone else (in any case, not even just with Christians). My comment was merely critiquing the behavior of certain Christians, not preaching my beliefs

Nobody asked for the explanations that we’ve all heard a million times. “As christians, we’re called to…” just stop. We don’t care. Stop trying to preach about it.

It’s the ones that make it known that are the problem

But if you put up comments or pictures of Ba’al or Baphomet, or too large of a Buddha, a 卍 (very separate from a nazi swastika), an inverted cross, the STS Tenets (objectively better than the inconsistent ’10 commandments)… you’d get a notice by end of day saying “some residents (the RA) feel uncomfortable with your displays… we need to be considerate of other people’s beliefs and should remain neutral, so please take them down” or some shit.

I get harassed for playing my music too loud or practicing my vocals for my band… it’s the dumbest double standard ever

But I’m sure someone could play some prayer songs loud as hell at midnight and the RA would be skipping in the halls. 🙄
