I need to rant about a criticism about a hyperfixation that none of my friends know/care about so feel free to ignore. So I love Toontown and by extension Corporate Clash. I find CC an amazing, entertaining take on Toontown. But (continued in comments)

I’m sorry the writing bothers me. I don’t expect a Toontown type game to have good writing. It’s Toontown. But CC goes out of its way to try to create an interesting story and characters. A main critique I have is with how Misty Monsoon, Rainmaker, is treated both by the game and the fandom. To be clear, you can like and write villain characters. That’s not my issue. My issue is with Misty often being portrayed as an innocent helpless victim of circumstance when she’s canonically a STALKER.

The fandom downplays it but it’s canon that William Boar (The Derrick Man) has submitted FIVE reports against her for harassment and stalking. A lot of people seem to undermine this and take it as William being grumpy but. 5 reports?? That’s not. Someone being grumpy. That’s someone who has no romantic interest repeatedly being stalked. And it’s canon that the cog HR team doesn’t take it seriously since William’s performance isn’t affected. And tbf, that feels like a very cog thing to do.

I don’t mind that in of itself. I just dislike how this is never mentioned or elaborated on in any way and how people in the fandom undermine it to such a degree. It kind of ties back to CC’s core issue. The cogs are too sympathetic and likable, while the game seemingly wants them to be the villains regardless. There’s a social media post for Earth day that says that even cogs have to do their part to help the planet and tjcjdjjejfj that’s!!! Literally the opposite of what cogs represent!!!

Cogs are a blatant anti-capitalist and anti-pollution metaphor. That’s. The entire point of what cogs are. And yet many of the cogs in-game are kinda just. There. They’re funny and likable and get into romantic relationships and have close bonds and it feels entirely antithetical to what cogs are supposed to represent. The focus of CC is the cogs and. Don’t get me wrong. It is fun. I like a lot of the cogs designs and personalities. But from a writing perspective, it irks me.
