It’s more about listening to the signals in your body and getting to the root of what it’s looking for, then acting accordingly based off of that. If I’m hungry, my impulse might be to eat a whole bag of hot Cheetos, but I know cooking a meal will satisfy me more and give me more nutrients so I do that instead.
I get what you’re saying here but also part of dealing with adhd is learning how to spot those signals so you can listen to your body. And that might mean every 4-5 hours or so asking yourself if you’re maybe hungry and starting to feel like it’s a good idea to eat something instead of waiting for the hunger signal that’s not gonna come until you’re starving. It means noticing when you’re getting under stimulated so you can decide to get a fidget toy before you start mindless snacking
LOL me when i made my favorite meal i’d been eating for many many months after my 11pm-7am shifts just to finish cooking it and sit down to eat it but i look at it and think “i’d rather die than put that in my mouth” 🥲 ….. that was one of the most heartbreaking moments in my adult life fr i swear.
