Get as many soft and cold (the colder the better) foods like ice cream and pudding. Mashed potatoes and broths or soups are also great for salts and diversity but the colder things help with the pain.

Close your mouth before you stand up right after. I didn’t and blood came out and permanently stained my shoe. I didn’t find the pain that bad and I also had all 4 out. They prescribed me opioids but i didn’t find them necessary. Also if they ask you at a follow to open your jaw as wide as possible they mean without significant pain and they don’t want you to forcibly dislocate your jaw 👍

drinking a lot of pineapple juice (before you need to start fasting) can help with swelling

Watch a show that is funny but not really funny because laughing will hurt. I needed to keep my mind busy because anesthesia is hell for me. I watched Home Improvement because it was on and my mom likes it lol, it was amusing but not funny enough to really laugh about.

Ultimately it’s really not that bad, just sore for a while and you’ll get really tired of soft foods. Unless you get a dry socket, that hurts like you bit straight into ice cream but like constantly

im worried i wont be able to comfortably open my jaw enough to get a spoon in. im usually really bad about immobilizing things that are sore, like every shot i ever got id have a sore arm for days cause i refused to use it

Ah, you’ll really have to fight that. The only thing that with limit your jaw mobility is the swelling in your cheeks but you have to be moving it because straws aren’t allowed

Yeah I got all 4 out too! Popsicles and pudding were my best friends afterwards where I would just set the popsicles on my gums and let it melt there and pudding was just delicious and distracted me

I don’t remember since it was a few years ago but I think they probably did. I would guess you could do it before and/or after the trip if you feel okay though. Definitely something you should ask. It’s possible you won’t have a post appointment but it was a requirement for me in CA

Get some baby/really flat spoons. I had trouble opening my mouth and basically lived only on sorbet out of baby spoons for 2 days, then I could have small but non-baby spoons and soup/very blended mashed potatoes.
