dawg. it’s perfectly fair if you feel you were personally failed by a psychiatrist at a young age, and you deserve space to talk about it. but there are plenty of ways to discuss that experience without like, parroting Tucker Carlson-ass rhetoric that’s popularly used to stoke a bullshit moral panic. a moral panic that exclusively targets neurodivergent people who struggle with significant levels of debilitation, btw
see I think “societal structures need to adapt / be altered such that neurodivergent people can thrive the way we are without having to take daily stimulants just to keep up with what’s demanded of us” is true + a convo worth having, as long as there’s room left to listen to people who feel they would likely depend on (or prefer to have access to) these meds regardless this meme doesn’t communicate that though when you post it without commentary explaining that that’s where you’re coming from
cause yeah, I figured there was a very high likelihood that the worldview which led you to post this was Not in line with the type of moral panic I was referring to. but like… I think the best way I can put it is that this is an issue of semiotics & cultural narratives. the implications of this meme, in the context of the discussions it most often pertains to, just don’t align with “we deserve accommodation beyond just being put on meds” so much as “maybe we should outlaw meds”
