From my understanding there’s a type of Tourette’s where their ticks are words that they know are socially unacceptable, an example being the old YouTube meme of a man ticking the word fuck over and over. People with this form often feel very ashamed of saying these ticks even if they’re involuntary. I remember a Reddit story of someone with an n-word tick because of this that had to move out of their apartment because their roommate kept intentionally triggering this particular tick because

they thought it was “funny” and the poster was worried it would mean the tick would be more common and come out at the worst time possible.

Very sad and interesting, I understand and sympathize but I also feel like its important to keep in mind the black people that heard that on national television and the hurt also caused. Intention ≠ impact so i think the best action wouldve been to include an apology to the hosts aswell as those impacted with his statement. From what the host said no one even acknowledged or said anything after the incident which i think is wrong
