I don’t know how to get rid of it, but I made myself feel better about it by learning how to use it for comedic effect. Monotone delivery can be powerful

Thankfully I watched a LOT of anime as a kid, so I can pretty naturally mimick very animated/lively tones of voice. Sometimes, even now when I go too long without watching anime I revert to the hardcore monotone voice tho. Idk I literally just mimic the animated voices and facial expressions of anime characters

Sometimes I employ it when annoyed or wanting to be sarcastic. But rather than being usually monotone I phonetically imitate differently accents, though I can’t entirely control it so my accent will shift from stereotypical American, to Deep South, to English, and occasionally Irish with varying levels of vocal fry. The shift tends to happen with mood but I can typically decide to employ the Deep South on command everything else is a crap shoot.

I have a bad habit of trying to be funny, so I’ll occasionally ham up the monotone voice of mine even further for something like a sarcastic comment

If I’m taking to someone from England or Ireland my accent will almost certainly change to imitate there’s though. Or if I watch English/irish/Scottish creators or tv the accent my brain likes will become more pronounced.
