Honestly I’m kind of pissed not just bc of the implication that I can’t make my own medical decisions (my mom literally wouldn’t know what to look for in a psychiatrist anyways), but also no explanation as to why she can’t take me back as a patient. Typically if someone doesn’t have space they’ll just tell you. And “enjoying college” is a stretch bc last she knew I should’ve graduated by now. Am I crazy or is that message insanely condescending?

Well if it’s been two years since you last went to that therapist and your mom used to be involved in the process then I don’t think it’s insane for her to assume that she still was involved. How was she supposed to know that your mom isn’t involved if it’s been two years?

She was involved (as in coordinating payment) when I was a minor. I’ve been paying for years, even before I switched over to a different psychiatrist
