Controversial take question: Saying the r- word but not when talking about or referring to people, but when describing something that is stupid or ridiculous. Is that okay or offensive?

offensive. the reference point for your disdain for something is still based in bigotry against real people even if you’re not explicitly calling someone a slur

Why on earth would this not be offensive ? There are not any other slurs people do this shit with. If somebody said “oh I’m not calling you a f—-, I’m just saying that guys outfit is f—-y” is that somehow suddenly not homophobic?? A slur is a slur.

There’s so many other words to use. What’s the point

Genuinely I think “the r-word” is so far down our list of actual issues that discourse about it is a genuine waste of time and dead end
