Mantra of the day: “Do not take on an empty stomach” does not mean “take with food”, sometimes the advice we’ve given isn’t congruent with the life we live. ❤️

So not to brain dump but basically, have an old injury I re-aggravated and took Advil for and I never eat breakfast, so first meal was lunch and had my Advil then. Ended up talking with my mom and she basically said, if you eat food with pills, it often decreases the effectiveness. And I said “well it said, don’t eat on an empty stomach.” And I kinda realized I was thinking in extremes. But I’ve been thinking about this since yesterday…

I feel like neurodivergent people, tend to live a little more towards the extremes of things, and sometimes it’s important to have an awareness of that, and realize what might be flexible and what’s just gonna be the way that it is, despite some of our best intentions… that was kinda where I was coming from. Just a be kind to yourself, moment.

Depends on the pills. There are actually a bunch that you SHOULD take with food, some you should eat an hour after eating food, some you need an empty stomach for, etc.

And by all means follow the instructions on the packaging, was just saying in this instance, I had a very one sided view of “i should eat food so I don’t have an empty stomach when I take my meds.” Best intentions don’t mean it automatically solves the root of the issue lol.

it says don’t take on an empty stomach bc some people get nauseous when they do but you *can* do that. i take painkillers on an empty stomach bc headaches usually make it difficult to eat.
