Any tips on letting go of emotional attachments to objects? My bed frame recently broke and I’ve been told it’s cheaper to buy a whole new one to replace it. My current/now old bed has been my bed since I was big enough to need one tho, so I’m distraught

I will often ask a friend or my partner to make the decision for me based on the facts of the situation, be sad about it for a bit. And then eventually it feels easier to let it go. I have the same issues with clothes.

But also! Maybe it’s a sign that there’s new beginnings in a way🫶🏼

something that’s worked for me is repurposing the item I’m sad about getting rid of or saving a small piece of it. If it’s made of wood you could try to make something new out of the pieces like a picture frame or something.

Let yourself grief whatever made it significant to you. Make art about it if it helps! I made and framed a miniature pair of pants out of a pair my boyfriend was really attached to but had outgrown. I’ve framed panels of a cardboard box that my family reused my whole childhood. Before my parents renovated the house I grew up in I did a whole photo series.

I think this is the idea that resonates with me the most, I have a puzzle I did with my family that’s been glued together for some time now that’s still without a frame, both are things I’m emotionally attached to so combining them would be like a double whammy, and still having the wood around in some small fashion would lessen the blow considerably for me
