my dad set me up with a counselor/career coach (who's a family friend) and shes confused why i don't trust her. i already don't trust my dad why would i trust someone he set me up with. and ik dr patient confidentiality and all that jazz but there was no
paper work signed. my dad just paid her for 4 sessions and told me i had to go to them. and this lady is nice and im fine with her on a family friend level but i cant tell her what im feeling like i physically cant

Oh when I was like super depressed at 10 my dad sent me to his friend who was a not-technically-licensed “grief counselor” and yeah there was no actual confidentiality despite her telling me that

is that not a conflict of interest?

that's what i am scared of because my relationship with my parents is weird i don't trust them with alot of things and one of those things is their reactions to things i tell them. and how will they react if this lady tells them what i say.

The way I made it through was by lying my ass of for like an hour every week until I didn’t have to anymore 🫡

conflict of interest refers to being unable to provide adequate service to a client bc there will be bias. like it’s a family friend so she may be biased towards your parents instead of actually helping you

& im pretty sure conflict of interest can exist regardless of being independent or part of an agency
