My doc wants to put me on birth control but all the peer reviewed articles says it can make your ADHD symptoms worse. Thoughts on this

I don't think it's impacted my adhd at all! and I've been on a few types of birth control so the pill gave me bad mood swings, nexplanon (the arm implant) gave me a permanent period, and the iud works great except it fucking hurt being put in lol but those are all the side effects I've ever had, as far as I know there's been nothing relating to my adhd that's been affected

I had the depo provera injection and it gave me like, severe mood swings, it was harder to stop bc it lasted for three months at a time. The pill at least would be easier to stop if it gives you any issues

unfortunately so. but not everyones symptoms are the same and the good thing about the pill is that it's really easy to stop it immediately if you don't like how it makes you feel. so most birth control methods use estrogen which is more likely to give people side effects like mood swings and depression. iud and nexplanon are progesterone based where it's very unusual for them to impact someone mentally
