Job interviewer said “tell me a bit about yourself” and I told him about where I was born and where I live. I realized after the interview that he wanted to know about my personality and things of similar nature.

Yeah. Those questions want you to say something like, “I’ve worked in X field for Y years (or I have a degree in X), and I’ve got strong skills in A, B, and C. I’m interested in D, E, and F which is why I’m applying for this role. I think I’d contribute to this role for reasons 1, 2, and 3.”

my formula for that interview question is name, degree, job relevant quality, a hobby i do in my free time. so “hi, im Name, a recent graduate from XYZ and im pursuing Career because ABC. I love to learn and in my free time I enjoy exploring different art mediums :)” it’s worked pretty well for me

for most interview questions you Cannot take them at face value, you have to think backwards like “why would this be asked, what information does this question ask for”
