How it feels when you’re 100% aware of your autism and what specifically causes your social ostracization (such as atypical body language/eye contact, monotone voice, cognitive rigidity, etc) but are completely unable to fix it bc it’s neurological

I feel like knowing is half the battle, don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely still the alkward kid, but at least I’m not the creepy kid who’s entirely unaware of what the problems are with behaviors 🤷‍♂️ definitely makes me feel like I’m censoring myself most of the time tho.

I’m assuming this prob makes it feel worse right? Than if you weren’t fully aware? ❤️‍🩹

Autism means slower social development, not completely unable to develop forever

With enough hard work you can, the question is if you want assimilation or if assimilation is worth it

Largely yes, but I’d rather have self awareness over blissful ignorance

Heavy on the creepy part, I had a huge staring problem when I was younger. Someone called me creepy, in front of the entire class, when I was in 8th grade and that traumatized me

Same, I got yelled at freshman year of HS for talking to myself while doing math in math class 💀 Teacher kicked her out of class for making a scene, but the damage was done.

Intent matters! I’m assuming your weren’t intentionally being creepy yet the person took it upon then selves to shame you. That’s intentional! Ask why were you staring? Was it because you were overwhelmed and needed to focus on a single stimulus to avoid becoming dysregulated? Or something else

Also, being accepted doesn't mean shit if you have to change who you are to meet the standards of dickheads
