the word limit is usually to help with the profs’ grading but as a fellow MUCH NEAT INFO SO LITTLE TIME writer, i usually email them to “ask permission” to go over if it’s appropriate. only ONCE did i get points off for going over and i challenged him like NAW never in my entire academic career has anyone ever penalized me for doing more work & dude reversed it and i got 100%

This is from a fellow ‘ I must tell you everything’ kind of person. My longer versions are stored in a separate folder. So , they don’t actually get ditched .

This is a good time to get good at editing. Write to your hearts content. Then edit it down. It’ll feel like murder the first few times. But one day you’ll look back at the shorter , tighter versions… and realize editing will help you in the neurotypical world. You’ll breeze through it… then you’ll have more time and more bandwidth to spend in your fun world ( your nd world).

I would COMBUST being in a class about your special interest is genuinely so kickass though. when I got to take an entire course focused on close analysis of House of Leaves I felt like I was dreaming

You could also declare honors if you’re not— I honors option my favorite classes and I’m writing a 7,500 word research paper on one of my favorite television shows and what it says/ reflects/ and contributes to discourse surrounding our trust in the US criminal justice system’s institutional authority.

Listen. I REALLY don’t like AI, but you could try writing as much as you want within your flow state, then ask it to shorten your paper to whatever word count you need without it making any major changes
