you know, i’m generally pretty sensitive towards & critical of stereotypes about autism, but i really do find the “train-obsessed” jokes uniquely innocuous 🤔 it’s kinda fun to have such a neutral & harmless cliche to play with, ykwim

Actually fascinating fact one of the best ways we’ve found to map optimal train routes is to grow slime mould and give it food sources at each station and watch the path it chooses to grow.

Yeah, I get it! Trains aren’t in my wheelhouse of interest very much, but I love when people have a fixation on it and study these things. Diversity of interests is just a net-gain and is how we continue to develop!

If you google “slime mold trains” bunch of articles come right up, on how it grows a nearly identical network to the Tokyo subway system, using oat flakes 🤣

totally, the world needs people who can organically feel passionate enough about a subject to become super knowledgeable about it. plus even aside from any functionality to society, i think it’s an admirable trait
