I’m not blaming you for missing the tone of the conversation, of course. I think people just tend to feel uncomfortable when having a very non-sexual conversation, and then suddenly someone brings up something sexual

in a thread where people are already discussing somewhat-sexual topics, or joking around privately with friends who you already know to be comfortable with horny jokes. to bring up this kind of thing up out of left field in a context where people are chatting about something 100% innocent (like pet behavior) makes a lot of people uncomfortable
