Did anyone ever get in trouble for not accepting apologies? I remember getting bullied in school and when the teacher asked if I accepted the apology I said no because that person will do it again and somehow I was in more trouble than the bully

A kid said some racist shit to me over and over, made up rumors about my family etc, and finally sucker punches me. I go to their next class and make sure to get even for that last half now that I was within legal rights to do so and then get told we need to apologize to each other later after he spent the afternoon in the hospital/threatened me with assault charges until I mentioned pull up the camera for the hallway just a minute before 😤

That’s so stupid. I struggle when others don’t forgive me and I don’t get closure. I ruminate and feel bad about it, but with that being said such a clear power imbalance over you refusing to give closure is just so stupid

To give more context I told the teacher that he will just do it again so his apology isn’t true and that’s why I won’t accept it but I don’t go with the program because apparently Youre just supposed to so that things look good instead being good. To this day I still don’t understand why that’s a thing

Tbh you’re right. It’s not a true apology if you know that he won’t actually change his behavior, but we also live in a society where just basic accountability is seen as weakness
