also hate: as someone who has an autistic sibling/friend ….baby why are u acting like u having a close relation to an autistic person means u know more when speaking to an actual autistic person. whenever someone says that i just respond “….well that is [whatever topic] for ur sibling/friend bc that’s them. as the autistic person in this current covo…”

Weird how they got the autism moms to speak but we never got to hear from the kids in any way

Gives me the same vibes as “someone with a black friend”, or “someone with a gay cousin”.

I responded to one “autism parent” (🙄) who said the “as the parent of a kid with autism, I’m glad they’re trying to find a cause and will be avoiding Tylenol”. I responded- “As an Autistic person… fuck you.🖕”

“But I know better! I have it worse! Nobody ever thinks about those of us who have to deal with Autistic kids and their care!” 🤢

Exactly. Tokens to push shitty views that don’t help anyone.

or their views are the perspective of someone who has to “deal” with autistic people as if it’s the same as actually being autistic. don’t get me wrong i am not saying caregivers or people who have autistic loved ones can never speak on the topic because ik it’s apart of their lives in some ways too. but they need to stop acting like they can speak FOR autistic ppl acting like their experiences are comparable to actually living with this for your whole life

THANK YOU!! They constantly try to speak for us, centre themselves in OUR lives and struggles, and act like they have it worse than an Autistic kid they continue to infantilise and put through torturous “therapies” to make their behaviour “palatable”.
