Downing acetaminophen by the fistful (hyperbolically) because it’s not like it’s gonna make me more autistic (I’m on my period and in ✨agony✨ I’ve heard that ibuprofen works better but the last time I took it, I had an anaphylactic reaction 🤩)

Fun fact autism can make periods worse. I hope you feel better! Also acetaminophen is called paracetamol outside the US, but it’s the same thing.

I’ve used aspirin before, because I ran out of everything else, and it kinda helped

Love with all the respect in the world why the fuck would you continue to take a medication that put you into an anaphylactic state 😭

I know you said hyperbolically but truly be careful not to take too much because it cause liver failure in high quantities. Make sure to follow the guidelines on the bottle carefully

I’m not! I can take acetaminophen/tylenol, so I’ve been doing that. It’s just not working as well as I’d like for it to unforch :( Ibuprofen and aspirin are in a different category of meds, so I don’t take them. I’m just whining cause I’ve heard that for some people (who aren’t allergic) ibuprofen works better than tylenol, so I’m wishing I could take it

Midol is acetaminophen based and is what works best for my cramps! I have PCOS and a few other complications that make my cramps awful - that’s my tried and true lol

Asprin is also an NSAID like ibuprofen, so they wouldn’t be able to take it.

Not necessarily. I had a friend that was allergic to ibuprofen so they would take Aleve (a different NSAID). Whereas I have a very adverse reaction to Aleve but can take other NSAIDS fine.

Tho if they’ve never had other NSAIDS and might react similar to them, I can understand wanting to avoid them.

It depends on if OP has a true drug allergy or just a non allergenic hypersensitivity. If it’s a true allergy they might be able to have other NSAIDs because it’s your body’s response and production of antibodies against the specific drug, but if it’s a sensitivity to how the NSAID works within your body the same mechanism would get triggered by all NSAIDs.

Agreed. I used to be on a med where I couldn’t take NSAIDS. And I stopped taking it solely because of that because Tylenol wasn’t touching the cramps. Tho I did have a nurse when I was in the hospital who gave me a muscle relaxant in hopes that might help. It did not

Wait this is fascinating?? I was told by my dr that I just shouldn’t take any NSAIDs at all to be safe, but I never knew that there could be different causes of it that could have different effects

The human body and how it functions is fascinating to me
