I feel like there is no polite way to ask. People can volunteer that information about themselves, however to ask is a little invasive to a topic they may not wanna discuss.

You don’t. You wait for them to tell you and you can mention things like “oh I’m autistic” or “I work with autistic people” and see how they react…but never ask straight up
