You do not have to like SGA, but it’s so fucking exhausting trying to have a conversation about players, and someone can’t put their bias aside and be objective at all. Actually have dumb fucks out here saying Brunson is better than Shai 😭😭

Jalen Brunson played better against the spurs than shai and he beat them in 5 and he hit clutch shots every game

It’s a psychotic take

Shai is a better paint scorer, mid range shooter, hits his free throws at a higher clip, is a better rebounder, better playmaker, better ball handler, and a FAR better defender. The only aspect of the sport that Brunson arguably is better at is 3 point shooting, and even then, he’s less efficient on his 3s than Shai is. You can dislike the player, but don’t be dishonest.

Notice how my comment got downvoted, but nobody refuted my claims. It’s because the hate isn’t logical, it’s purely emotional. Shai haters are morons

Ok I’m looking at postseason stats bc that’s when teams actually play defense Brunson 0-3ft 63% shai 62% 3-10ft Brunson 47% shai 43% 10-16ft Brunson 42% shai 51% 16ft-3pt line Brunson 46% shai 42% so Brunson shot better in 3/4 areas and he shot better from 3 as well in the postseason shai averaged more turnovers than Brunson Brunson makes plays happen bc he will always find a way to get a shot he doesn’t need to push off then foul bait like shai does there passing numbers are nearly identical

Ignoring one is a positive defender and one is a bottom 5 defender is the sport 😭😭

I said most things u mentioned were wrong that one was right like free throws so I didn’t mention them defense was good enough to take the spurs out in 5

Also bottom 5 is disrespectful when u consider he is the best at taking charges in the league

I don’t think it’s really disrespectful tbh. I love Brunson for the record, but he is a dreadfully bad defender. I can recognize that Brunson had a better overall playoff run. I also recognize that it’s a smaller sample size, and Brunson rose to those numbers while Shai fell to his. Shai is a better player over a larger sample size.

I also think that a LOT of Shai’s dropping off can be explained by his offensive infrastructure falling apart. JDub and Ajay were out, and Chet was unplayably bad. Compared to the Knicks, who had the best egalitarian defense in the league, it isnt a 1 to 1 comparison

For the record, I’m not an OKC fan, or a particularly big Shai fan. I just get irked by dishonest conversation about how good he is driven by people just not liking him because he gets clipped on twitter. And not that it matters to the conversation of how good the players are, but Brunson flops a TON

I seriously do appreciate you engaging in a conversation about their play in a way that extends beyond bitching about free throws. THIS is what discourse is supposed to be.

shai is a positive defender and brunson is a bottom 5 defender but come these finals brunson held his guys to a lower fg % than what unanimous dpoy wemby was able to do for his guys.

shai has a fake ass ring and a fake ass finals mvp. they 1000% lose that final with hali on the court.
