Shai is a better paint scorer, mid range shooter, hits his free throws at a higher clip, is a better rebounder, better playmaker, better ball handler, and a FAR better defender. The only aspect of the sport that Brunson arguably is better at is 3 point shooting, and even then, he’s less efficient on his 3s than Shai is. You can dislike the player, but don’t be dishonest.
Ok I’m looking at postseason stats bc that’s when teams actually play defense Brunson 0-3ft 63% shai 62% 3-10ft Brunson 47% shai 43% 10-16ft Brunson 42% shai 51% 16ft-3pt line Brunson 46% shai 42% so Brunson shot better in 3/4 areas and he shot better from 3 as well in the postseason shai averaged more turnovers than Brunson Brunson makes plays happen bc he will always find a way to get a shot he doesn’t need to push off then foul bait like shai does there passing numbers are nearly identical
I don’t think it’s really disrespectful tbh. I love Brunson for the record, but he is a dreadfully bad defender. I can recognize that Brunson had a better overall playoff run. I also recognize that it’s a smaller sample size, and Brunson rose to those numbers while Shai fell to his. Shai is a better player over a larger sample size.
For the record, I’m not an OKC fan, or a particularly big Shai fan. I just get irked by dishonest conversation about how good he is driven by people just not liking him because he gets clipped on twitter. And not that it matters to the conversation of how good the players are, but Brunson flops a TON
