Might be a hot take but I don’t blame OKC for playing the way they do. The unethical ball works, and they want to win championships. The NBA needs to step in and make rule changes to stop it and until that happens how can you blame OKC🤷‍♂️

Thing is OKC along with guys like SGA are so talented they don't need to do all this extra foul baiting unethical ball stuff yet they still do.. I actually think they can win a chip without doing all this extra shit but they do it anyway which is why I always hate on them. But other than that I agree the league needs to step in a do something about it.

OKC doesn’t even play unethical basketball, everytime there is any bad call going SGA’s way it blows up on TikTok. They don’t do it any more than any other team, it’s to the point that I can’t even watch other teams play without constantly thinking “yup that’s clipped for 100k on social media if that’s the Thunder”

It’s just so unnecessary tho when they’re a good team as is. And it makes the viewing experience absolutely miserable to ever see them on cus why am I turning the game on to see SGA already at the free throw line?

But it works, and their skill makes it even easier for them the foul bait and get to the line. But I agree, if more teams begin adopting this play style it will ruin the NBA product and inevitably force the league to make a change. Still an NBA problem not an OKC one tho

Their opponents, near constantly, get more FTs than them.

Also between the top 3 players in FTA’s on the lakers, they combine to take more FTs than 26 other TEAMS do per game. I don’t hear about that being a whistle crisis that needs addressing

They’re just the best team in basketball and the clips are pretty egregious, so it’s the most relevant example. No one’s gonna care if you make this argument with the Orlando magic, who shoot more fts by a long shot, OKC is the best and so they’re obviously gonna get the most flack.

I agree but the 2 teams I named weren’t the magic, it was the Nuggets and Lakers. Who (not looking great rn) but are supposed to be western conference contenders as well, and both not only take more FTs and give up less.. they also both notably get them in what would be deemed “unethical” ways today

I think we agree here, I’m a shai defender, I understand the numbers. I think overall, this whole “unethical basketball” thing is just bad for the league. OKC is the most relevant team with the best players and so using them as the example is just the easiest way to get that message across.

Why would they give up easy points? Like be fr, the best players in the world all try to get to the line cause free points are free points
